デボラ・パーキン写真展
会期：2013年5月7日(火)〜26日(日)　12:00−19:00　月曜休
デボラ・パーキンは、1970年イギリス生まれの写真家。子供が生れたことでその生を記録しようとカメラを持ちました。しかし、彼女にとって自分の子供たちの写真を撮ることは、その瞬間を記憶として定着させるとともに、自分の子供のころの記憶を呼び起こす作業でもあり、また、写真を観る者の記憶も呼び覚まそうとするものです。彼女の「記憶」への関心は、大学院でホロコーストについて研究したときに、その犠牲になった人々のそれぞれの「生」つまり「記憶」ということに思いを馳せたことからきています。作品の、永遠の時を閉じ込めてしまったような静謐な世界は、「生」よりもむしろ「死」を感じさせるかもしれません。
日本初個展となる今回の展示では、ポラロイドや、中型カメラのコロジオン湿板による作品など37点をご覧いただきます。また、Galerie VEVAISから出版された写真集も併せて展示販売いたします。

Debborah Parkin is a British female photographer. Her work documents and records the life of her children. In capturing and presenting individual and personal moments of the vanishing time that we call childhood, she also reflects and connects to her own childhood, and invites the audience, the viewer, to do the same.
This is her first solo exhibition in Japan. We are exhibiting 37 photographs from three series: "Memory"; "Stillness in time"; and "September is the cruelest month". We are also showing three photographic books of her work published by Galerie Vevais of Germany.
