合田佐和子・アナザーワールドへ

合田佐和子は、いま新たな世界に足を踏み出そうとしています。この数か月、10色の色えんぴつで日記のように描いている「色えんぴつのラインダンス」は、ポートレイトや花を描き続けてきた今までの合田佐和子作品からはまったく異なる作風と言えます。オートマティズムとも違った線と色とのこの遊戯は、過去から解放された軽やかさを感じさせます。また、2000年頃から描き始めた目をつむったまま描く「ブラインド・デッサン」による蝶を、カラフルなシルクスクリーンでプリントした新作エディションは、紙にプリントしたものとアクリルにプリントした二つのパターンがあり、どちらも日常の空間に窓を開けてくれる愛らしい小品です。
1991年に朝日新聞に連載された中上健次の小説「軽蔑」の挿絵として描かれた鉛筆による「眼」のシリーズは、「眼」の画家として一つの頂点を形成する圧巻の連作です。朝日がクリスタル通して描く虹色を捉えた未発表の写真作品は、早くから写真を自分の表現方法の一つとしていた合田佐和子らしい作品で、接写されたオブジェはまるで宇宙を思わせるランドスケープになっています。他にも「眼」を描いた油彩作品や、薔薇の新作シルクスクリーン作品もご覧いただきます。

1940年高知県生まれ。1958年武蔵野美術学校（現武蔵野美術大学）本科商業デザイン科入学。廃物を利用したオブジェ作品を制作し始める。1962年　同校卒業。1965年　銀座銀芳堂で自称「ガラクタ・オブジェ」による初個展。1971年ニューヨーク滞在中に道端で拾った写真に触発され、帰国後、その写真もとに第一回油彩作品『祖父母たち』を制作。以降、写真を見て油彩を描くというスタイルで作品を制作する。1972年油彩作品による初めての個展を開催。1977年突然油彩が描けなくなり、代わりにパステルやポラロイド写真による作品の制作を始める。1980年作品集『ポートレイト』（ヘラルド・エンタープライズ）、1983年作品集『パンドラ』（パルコ出版）、1985年オリジナル・ミニアチュール銅版画集『銀幕』（美術出版社）を刊行。1985年4月、娘二人とともにエジプトに移住するが、翌年3月諸事情により帰国。1987年『ナイルのほとりで』（朝日新聞社）刊行。1994年　『みずうみ』（アップリンク）を刊行。2001年「森村泰昌と合田佐和子」展（高知県立美術館）。2003年「合田佐和子　影像」展（渋谷区立松濤美術館）開催。

The JIRO MIURA GALLERY is pleased to announce a new exhibition by the female Japanese artist Sawako Goda.
Born in 1940, Goda studied art at Musashino Art University where her creative impulses lead her to make art objects and dolls from discarded material found in the street. In 1971 she turned to canvas and began to paint portraits of actors and actress. Later she broadened her outlook and experimented with various media including Polaroid photos, etching, pastel and more. She was involved in the theater work of Shuji Terayama and Juro Kara by drawing posters and designing stages. During the 70’s she was at the center of art pop culture.
This exhibition will show her new series, "Line Dance of Colored Pencils", and will include a new edition of screen-prints, "Butterfly by Blind Drawing"; in addition to her established work such as the drawings and oil paintings of the "eye".
