ルネ・ジェイコブスは、フィラデルフィア生まれの女性写真家。報道写真家としてニューヨークタイムスなどの新聞・雑誌に写真を提供し、ロバート・Ｋ・ケネディ賞を受賞するなど高く評価されました。15年間市民権弁護士として活動した後、再び写真家として撮影を始め、2008年International
Photography AwardのFine Art Nude部門で受賞、2009年限定写真集「AMOUREUX」を出版。ドイツの出版社Galerie
Vevaisから、2012年ジョック・スタージス監修による写真集「WERKDRUCK」を出版したのに続き、今年5月にはパリにロケーションした写真集「PARIS」を出版。今回の写真展は、この「PARIS」出版記念展として世界に先駆けて開催、ほぼ同時にタイのバンコクでも開催されます。パリの街中、殊にルーヴル美術館、エッフェル塔など良く知られた場所で大胆に撮影されたヌード作品は、単なるヌードとは異なる、スタイリッシュでストーリー性を感じさせます。

Renee's early photojournalism included assignments for The New York Times,
Philadelphia Inquirer and many other newspapers and magazines. She received
the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Outstanding Coverage of the Disadvantaged
and her work is in the permanent collection of the John F. Kennedy Presidential
Library. Her solo monograph, "Slow Burn: A Photodocument of Centralia,
Pennsylvania" was originally published in 1986 and re-issued in 2010
to favorable reviews in The New York Times Review of Books and photo-eye.
After a 15 year detour as a civil rights lawyer, she returned to photography.
Renee's work has won awards and been published around the world. She is
the recipient of the prestigious 2008 International Photography Award for
Fine Art Nude (the Lucies). Her book, RENEE JACOBS' PARIS is out now from
Galerie Vevais. Her monograph of black & white nudes, Werkdruck, is
also available through publisher Galerie Vevais. The book is a compilation
of 20 photo prints on baryta paper, hand selected, sequenced and with an
introduction by renowned photographer Jock Sturges. Magazines that have
featured Renee's work include Silvershotz, Adore Noir, PH Magazine, Fine
Art Photo, Nude Magazine, Photoicon, B&W Magazine, Focus, FHM Germany,
Esquire Turkey and numerous others. Her two calendars in 2009 and 2010
went to #1 on Amazon. Her interviews and photographs of Araki, Lillian
Bassman, Shelby Lee Adams, Douglas Kirkland and others have been featured
in magazines around the world. Taschen's "New Erotic Photography"
(2012) also contains a feature on her work.
